Position:   Full-Time Live-Out Estate Caretaker
Schedule:   Monday–Friday, standard business hours (8:30am-4:30pm) with flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends, and on-call emergencies
Salary: $32.00- $37.00 per hour- up to $78,000.00 
Start Date:   Flexible for the right fit
Relocation:   No – Local candidates preferred

A private family located in NW Washington, DC is seeking a highly skilled, proactive, and exceptionally discreet Estate Caretaker to join their team. The family values professionalism, precision, confidentiality, and long-term commitment.

This is a large, high-value residential estate requiring meticulous care, preventative maintenance, and hands-on craftsmanship to ensure seamless daily operations.

Home Size:   Large, luxury residential estate
Pets:   Dog(s) requiring daily walking
Household Staff:   Estate Manager and additional household staff

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance across all areas of the estate, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, drywall repair, appliance upkeep, and basic electrical work

  • Monitor and maintain complex residential systems, including HVAC, humidifiers, water filtration systems, and generators

  • Oversee exterior property maintenance including pool care, hardscaping, outdoor lighting, and minor irrigation repairs

  • Serve as the primary liaison for outside vendors and contractors; oversee projects to ensure high standards and timely completion

  • Maintain organized inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies; source and purchase materials within budget

  • Walk dog(s) daily and assist with errands as needed

  • Provide general support to the Estate Manager and collaborate professionally with other household staff

  • Remain available for emergency response and promptly address urgent property issues

Requirements

  • experience as a handyman or property maintenance specialist in a residential estate or hospitality setting

  • Excellent references

  • Legal to work in the United States

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools; experience with specialized equipment

  • Relevant trade licenses or certifications preferred

  • Willingness to complete a background check and sign a non-disclosure agreement

  • Comfortable with pets
