Job Description

Private family seeks a polished, detail-oriented Seasonal Housekeeper to support their Hamptons estate during the busy summer season. This is a dynamic, team-oriented role within a well-established household, offering the opportunity to work alongside long-tenured staff in a collaborative and respectful environment. The household currently employs an existing team of housekeepers, and the ideal candidate will integrate seamlessly, demonstrating a collegial, low-ego approach and a genuine willingness to support and assimilate into an established, high-functioning staff environment.

This is a seasonal position spanning approximately from Memorial Day through Labor Day, requiring a schedule of 5 to 6 days per week with flexibility based on household needs. Two consecutive days off will be provided when possible, typically midweek, though not guaranteed during peak periods. The household operates at a fluctuating pace, ranging from quieter, independent work periods to high-volume entertaining, and candidates must be comfortable adapting accordingly. The role includes a blend of traditional housekeeping and high-touch hospitality, requiring confidence assisting with service, entertaining, and guest-facing responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be highly adaptable, service-minded, and proactive, with a strong understanding of high-level private household standards. This individual will demonstrate a “no task too big or too small” mentality, seamlessly balancing independent responsibilities with team support. Success in this role requires strong collaboration across household staff, including housekeepers, chef, and property management, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and elevated service standards. Responsibilities may evolve based on the family’s presence, guest activity, and travel schedule, including potential international travel (notably Europe in August) and house-sitting responsibilities when the principals are not in residence.

This position presents strong potential to transition into a year-round role for the right candidate. The family values long-term staff retention and may offer continued employment during the off-season, as well as the opportunity to provide periodic support at their New York City residence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform all aspects of general housekeeping in coordination with existing housekeeping staff
  • Maintain the cleanliness and overall presentation of the primary residence to the highest standards
  • Manage laundry responsibilities, with a focus on overflow support and acting as a “right hand” to the team
  • Assist with the upkeep and light maintenance of additional properties as needed
  • Support entertaining efforts, including high-touch service, light serving, setup, and cleanup
  • Assist with meal service and post-meal organization
  • Provide house sitting and coverage when principals are traveling
  • Collaborate effectively with household staff, including housekeepers, chef, and property management
  • Maintain organization across all household areas, ensuring a consistently polished and orderly environment

Requirements:

  • Strong command of English language; outstanding writing and verbal skills
  • Excellent references from both current and former employers
  • Prior experience working full-time in a private estate REQUIRED
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, emotional intelligence, and commitment to confidentiality and safety
  • Strong understanding of formal and informal housekeeping standards
  • Proven ability to work harmoniously within an established, long-term staff environment
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to pitch in across roles
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable working in a household with pets
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to manage fluctuating workloads and schedules
  • Professional, discreet, and service-driven demeanor at all times
  • Comfortable working in a multi-staff household environment
  • Valid Driver’s License; confident driver with zero points
  • Valid Passport; willing and able to travel both domestic and internationally as needed to provide seamless care
  • Able to legally work within the United States for any employer

Compensation: $40-55 hourly, dependent on experience
