Junior Developer/Software Quality Assurance Engineer and Tester
Lexical Intelligence provides software and services related to processing large-scale biomedical information sources. Our Natural Language Processing (NLP) and analytics software is used by policy and decision makers to evaluate and prioritize current and emerging areas of research.
We are looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer and Tester with experience in software testing methodologies, quality assurance processes, and automated testing frameworks. The Software Quality Assurance Engineer and Tester will have a firm understanding of biomedical data systems, cloud infrastructure, and complex AI/ML and Large Language Model (LLM) applications. The Software Quality Assurance Engineer and Tester shall be able to work well within a team of scientists, software engineers, data scientists, and technical writers. The selected applicant will be subject to a pre-employment background and reference check.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or other degree(s) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields1-2 years of software development experience and a strong willingness to write and execute testsProficiency in one or more core programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) and experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL database systemsExperience with software development life cycles including agile and hybrid methodologiesFoundational knowledge of data acquisition, data management, and data processing principlesFamiliarity with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Cypress) and the ability to apply testing to web applications and APIsFamiliarity with the Linux / POSIX commandline
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with biomedical data systems, scientific applications, or research toolsKnowledge of cloud environments, particularly AWSFamiliarity with DevOps tools such as Kubernetes, Ansible, or JenkinsExperience with containerized workloads and microservices architecturesExperience testing AI/ML and Large Language Model (LLM) applicationsFamiliarity with the Linux / POSIX commandlineExperience with collaborative work platforms such as Shortcut, Jira, or ConfluenceExperience with performance testing and scalability assessment
Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with organizational security and privacy policies, protecting sensitive data and systems, reporting security incidents, and participating in required cybersecurity training.
